WELCOME TO SKILLSUSA!
SkillsUSA is a national organization that helps students prepare for careers in skilled, technical, and service occupations. Many students are mislead by the thought that SkillsUSA is only for people who are going into the trades. At Bonduel, we encourage students interested in any and all career paths to join SkillsUSA. In SkillsUSA, there's a place for eveyone. The student is allowed to choose any event to compete in against other high school students across the state; if a student wins a competition, they move on to compete at the National SkillsUSA convention in Atlanta, GA . Events will include a project or activity to be displayed and explained in full detail, as well as requiring a professional interview in front of National SkillsUSA judges, and a resumé all completed by a high school student. The events range from woodworking, and metal sculptures to prepared speeches, and events such as job-skill demonstration (where you can demonstrate a skill as simple as braiding hair, or breaking in a baseball glove), and barbering. Not only can a student pick an event that they are good at, students can also pick something they know nothing about and spend a few months learning an entirely new skill that they can add to their skillset!
